About Nina Knight-Fredericks
About Nina Knight-Fredericks
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S), a Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS), a Professor, a Mentor, a Retired Police Officer, and a United States Veteran (SSG). I am also a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), the Association for Play Therapy (A4PT), the World Association of Sand Therapy Professionals, the American Psychological Association (APA), the Veterans National Honor Society and the Alpha Phi Sigma.
I firmly believe that through play therapy, people can take accountable steps to solving different emotional or behavioral problems they are experiencing in life.
As a prior first responder and a veteran of this country with a decorated background and extensive experience, I can assist people with different upbringings because I can identify and understand situations that are unique to individuals with different cultures.
My experience includes working with children and adolescents, DCP&P involved youth and families, school systems, the justice system, juvenile and adult offenders, different types of addictions and crisis interventions. In addition, I have also worked with community oriented populations which includes Police and Correction Officers, Firefighters, Veterans, LGBTIQ2S populations, and multiple mental health issues.
Why Play Therapy?
Why Play Therapy?
“The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play instinct.” -Carl Jung.
At Living and Looking Within Counseling & Play Therapy, I believe that play is the best therapy. With extensive experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I have seen how important playing is to happiness and well-being. Through play therapy, I have helped to identify the causes of emotional pain, struggles and behavioral challenges that individuals experience in their daily lives.
